Somewhere in metro Atlanta are three shoplifting suspects who probably smell really, really good.

McDonough police are asking the public for help identifying the trio, who are accused of stealing $12,000 worth of cologne and perfume from a beauty supply store last week.

The theft occurred Oct. 28 at the Ulta Beauty on Ga. 20, McDonough Detective Thomas Spangenberg said Wednesday.

Surveillance photos shared by police appear to show two women and a man in a New York Yankees cap enter the shop together about 7:30 p.m.

They immediately walked toward the designer fragrances, pulled out large shopping bags from underneath their clothes and helped themselves to as much merchandise as they could grab, Spangenberg said.

The entire incident took less than a minute.

Authorities said last week’s heist may not have been the man’s first time in the cosmetics store, however. He is also suspected in a similar shoplifting case that occurred June 13. In that instance, the man entered the store alone and left with 53 bottles of cologne valued at $4,300, Spangenberg said.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information on either case is asked to call McDonough detectives at 678-782-6322 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Tipsters can also reach out through the department’s Facebook page, investigators said, and all callers will remain anonymous.
