A woman whose body was found on the side of a Clayton County interstate Sunday afternoon, prompting a homicide investigation, has been identified.
Cormella Thomas, 30, was found on the shoulder of I-675 near the overpass for Grant Road about 10:40 a.m. after being spotted by a passing motorist, Clayton County police confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She had been shot multiple times, police said.

In a statement, Clayton police spokeswoman Sgt. Julia Isaac said a good Samaritan had been driving down the interstate when they saw “what appeared to be a body on the side of the road.” The driver turned their car around and called police, Isaac said.
When officers arrived, they discovered the woman had been shot multiple times. The sketch was released after initial efforts to identify her were unsuccessful. Shortly after 7:30 p.m., Clayton police released a statement that Thomas had been positively identified and her next of kin informed of her death.
The homicide investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about Thomas’ death is asked to contact detectives at 770-477-3747.
