A man was killed Monday afternoon after crashing into a tow truck stopped on I-575 in Holly Springs, police said.

The wreck happened in the northbound lanes of the interstate just north of Holly Street at about 1:45 p.m. Officers said a white car struck the back of a tow truck that was stopped in the emergency lane.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 37-year-old Craig Brown of Woodstock by police.

The driver of the tow truck was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital with minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation and police did not say what caused the crash.
