An international jet engine designer and manufacturer announced Monday it will establish a new North American headquarters in Roswell.

PBS Aerospace, a Czech Republic-based turbojet engine maker, will invest $20 million and hire 95 workers at its new Roswell facility, according to a news release. The headquarters is an expansion of the company’s current operation in Buckhead and will incorporate additional manufacturing and research and development capabilities.

The company has contracts with several major aerospace and defense companies, including Lockheed Martin, which has a major presence in Georgia. The two companies announced last year they have a strategic partnership to improve the manufacturing process for components used in the F-35 fighter jet.

The project further elevates metro Atlanta’s status as an international hub for aerospace companies, which cluster in the region around the world’s busiest airport and Georgia’s higher education ecosystem for engineering.

“Atlanta has proven to be an exceptional base for our operations, offering access to an excellent education system, skilled workforce, robust infrastructure and a thriving business environment,” PBS Aerospace Managing Director Tomas Koutsky said in the release.

Founded in 1950, PBS Group established its aerospace subsidiary to focus on turbojet engines and auxiliary power units. The company broke into the U.S. market a decade ago and currently leases space within Buckhead’s Lenox Towers off Peachtree Road. It’s unclear whether PBS will maintain that office in addition to its forthcoming Roswell headquarters.

The Roswell campus will include a renovated building at 1350 Northmeadow Parkway in addition to a new adjacent facility. Full operations are expected to begin in April.

A Georgia Department of Economic Development spokesperson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that discretionary incentive negotiations remain active. PBS Aerospace will qualify for job creation tax credits and worker training through Georgia Quick Start, a state program that offers free customized skill-set training for companies in Georgia.

Aerospace products are Georgia’s top export, accounting for $11.1 billion in 2023. It’s also the state’s second-largest manufacturing industry and employs more than 200,000 workers.

“We look forward to building our new Roswell factory, which will produce the world’s most advanced small turbojet engines designed to meet the needs of the U.S. Department of Defense,” said Erin Durham, CEO of PBS Aerospace.
