According to a Brooklyn Nets media release, four of the NBA team’s members have tested positive for COVID-19.
The players were not named, but some reports have named two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant as one of the players.
According to the release, one of the players is showing symptoms but the other three were “asymptomatic.” All of the Nets’ players are isolated and under the care of the team doctor.
“The organization is currently notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working closely with state and local health authorities on reporting,” the Nets said in a statement. “All players and members of the Nets travel party are being asked to remain isolated, closely monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team medical staff. The health of our players and staff is of the highest priority to the organization and the team is doing everything within its power to ensure that those affected receive the best care possible.”
The team last played on March 10 in Los Angeles, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nets were then to face the Golden State Warriors two nights later in San Francisco before the NBA season was suspended after Utah's Rudy Gobert tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Last week, NBA announced it would suspend the rest of the season “until futher notice” following a player on the Utah Jazz testing positive for coronavirus.
In a statement, the league said that the test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of Jazz-Thunder last Wednesday in Oklahoma City, and at that time, the game was canceled. The statement added that the “affected player was not in the arena.”
Last week, the Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were revealed to have contracted the illness, as well as Christian Wood of the Detroit Pistons.
