A water main break closed Akers Mill Road near the I-75 and I-285 interchange in Cobb County for hours Wednesday.

The break caused 12 apartment complexes to lose water service for most of the day, but it was restored around 7:45 p.m., according to a tweet from the county government.

Akers Mill Road remained closed for a few more hours before it was reopened late Wednesday night. Crews are repaving the affected section of Akers Mill and have a workaround for traffic that is not causing significant delays, a county spokesperson told AJC.com.
