A motorcycle chase on I-75 after a traffic stop Friday morning led to the arrest of a felon wanted in Florida on armed carjacking charges, officials said.

Deputies tried to stop the motorcyclist for speeding at about 11:15 a.m. on I-75 South near the Forsyth exit, according to a news release by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as Krystofer Michael Hochlinkski of Jacksonville, Florida, did not stop. The chase continued for about eight miles before deputies boxed in the stolen motorcycle, which then ran into the back of a patrol car, the release said.

Hochlinkski ran away but was quickly arrested, according to the release.

Deputies said they found 10 ounces of methamphetamine and a gun at the scene.

They charged Hochlinkski with felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, trafficking methamphetamine, bringing stolen property inside state lines and several driving offenses.

Officials did not release details about the carjacking or Hochlinkski’s previous conviction.

He is in the Monroe County jail, according to jail records. No bond has been set.
