Carroll County fire and emergency rescue officials were searching Monday for a 38-year-old male after he went missing while boating on Lake Buckhorn.

Ashley Hulsey, spokesperson for the county’s sheriff, fire, and emergency management division, said officials received a call around 12:30 p.m. that a man had “jumped off a boat to retrieve an item but didn’t resurface.”

Emergency crews were still on the scene four hours later looking for him.

Hulsey was not aware of what section of lake the man was boating in but said she is pretty sure the team will find him.

“It’s not a very big lake so we’re hopeful we’ll find him,” she said.

Lake Buckhorn is located about 45 miles west of Atlanta.
