Authorities in Bartow County are investigating after a man died at a home in unincorporated Acworth.

Bartow deputies were sent to a home on Dripping Rock Trail about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a stabbing, according to Sheriff Clark Millsap.

When they arrived, they found a 30-year-old man on the ground, he said in a news release. A family member was trying to revive the man. Emergency medical services arrived and pronounced him dead after they were unable to find a pulse, Millsap said.

The man’s name was not released.

The details of the incident that led to the man’s death are not clear. Witnesses told deputies it started as an argument between the man and another person and turned into a physical fight. One of the witnesses ran for help and returned to find the man face-down on the ground, investigators said.

The suspect left the location in a black Kia, the sheriff’s office said.

In other news:

Witnesses told officials the man had tried to rescue his dog when he fell into the water.
