A large metal storage building at Chastain Park was destroyed in a fire Friday night.

Fire crews arriving to the park about 6:30 p.m. found heavy flames and smoke, Atlanta fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford told Channel 2 Action News. While the flames were knocked down quickly, Stafford said part of the building had collapsed.

The blaze could be seen from Powers Ferry Road, the news station reported. It took crews with the cities of Atlanta and Sandy Springs to put it out.

The fire was contained about 7:20 p.m. and crews were working to put out hot spots, Stafford said. No one was injured, and investigators were still working to learn how it started.

The building was used for storage and a small office space.
