All lanes of I-85 North in Gwinnett County were blocked for hours Wednesday as authorities investigated a fatal crash involving a child, authorities said.

Gwinnett police closed the interstate shortly after 4 p.m. as they worked to determine the circumstances of the crash, which happened at mile marker 123 just past the Hamilton Mill Road exit. The wreck involved a commercial truck and another car, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety was requested to handle an inspection of the commercial vehicle.

No other information has been released about additional injuries or whether charges will be filed.

Two lanes of traffic were reopened just before 7 p.m., and the remainder of the lanes were cleared about 20 minutes later, according to Gwinnett police.
