A dispute at an upscale restaurant in downtown Atlanta on Thursday led to a man shooting at the business and damaging the front door, police said.

Officers responded to the shots fired call at Oak Atlanta at 12:26 p.m., Atlanta police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant said. According to the initial investigation, officers had already gone to the location earlier in the day about a dispute.

Investigators believe a man involved in that dispute left the restaurant, then returned and opened fire into the front door as he drove by, Grant said. There were no injuries, but the restaurant was damaged.

Oak Atlanta, which opened in August 2018, bills itself as an “upscale, four-level entertainment complex” on its website. The restaurant and live entertainment venue is located at 30 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, a major traffic artery near the interchange with the Downtown Connector. The dispute and shooting both occurred before Oak Atlanta opened for the day.

The shooting happened ahead of a big weekend for the venue, which has major events planned around the NBA All-Star Game. Despite Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ pleas for restraint this weekend, Oak Atlanta’s Instagram is advertising appearances from major local recording artists like Migos on Friday and Future on Saturday.
