Walt Disney World Resort in Florida reportedly is suspending operations due to COVID-19 coronavirus, according to Wall Street Journal reporter Joe Flint.
Disney World and Disneyland Paris Resort reportedly will close after Sunday, March 15, through the end of the month, Flint reported. Disney Cruise Line will suspend all new departures beginning Saturday, March 14, through the end of the month, Flint reported.
Disneyland in California will close Saturday because of concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus.
Disneyland Resort said in a statement Thursday that the resort and Disney California Adventure that are next door to each other in the Los Angeles suburb of Anaheim will remain closed through the end of the month.
The resort says hotels will remain open until Monday so guests can make travel arrangements.
Shortly after Disney made its announcement, Universal Studios and Resorts announced it would implement a similar closure.
“Out of an abundance of caution and to assist with our nation’s preventive efforts, Universal Orlando Resort will temporarily close its theme parks,” read a statement from Universal Orlando Resort. “The closure is effective at the close of business on Sunday, March 15. We anticipate remaining closed through the end of March −but will continue to evaluate the situation.”
