At least eight gunshots were exchanged Friday inside the home of a Locust Grove man being served a search warrant, the GBI announced Saturday.

An autopsy performed on Chase Maddox, the newlywed Locust Grove officer who arrived as back-up, found the officer was shot three times, including the fatal shot to the head.

The suspect, 39-year-old Tierre Guthrie, who had refused the two Henry County deputies' efforts to serve the warrant, was shot four times, twice in the chest.

Two Henry County sheriffs deputies were also injured in the confrontation.
