An active shooter situation was reported late Tuesday morning at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, Florida, but was later determined to be only a drill, according to reports.

Base officials said someone in an adjacent building during the active shooter exercise called 911, leading to an urgent response by law enforcement.

An all-clear was given shortly before noon.

Initial radio communications by emergency officials reported an active shooting situation shortly after 11 a.m., however, police never officially confirmed an actual gunman.

After several minutes, WJHG-TV reported that Air Force officials confirmed there was no active shooter on the base.

There was a separate report of a student with a knife at a nearby high school that some believed might have triggered a lockdown at the base, but this report was also unconfirmed.

The drill led dozens of police and emergency responders to move into the area, according to WMBB.
