Music Midtown is giving out free two-day passes for this year’s festival to people who get vaccinated against COVID-19 at Piedmont Park this Sunday.

The festival is partnering with the city for the vaccine drive, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 5.

“Vaccines are safe, and the best way to protect our families, friends and neighbors,” Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said in a statement. “We are grateful for responsible partners like Live Nation who are helping in our fight against COVID-19.”

Music Midtown is scheduled for Sept. 18 and 19 at Piedmont Park, with headliners including Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5, the Jonas Brothers and 21 Savage. A two-day general admission ticket currently costs $145.

The Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available at two locations within the park Sunday. One site will be located north of the Piedmont Park Meadow on Charles Allen Drive and is a walk-up only site.

The other location will be in the Piedmont Park Promenade, which is further north in the park, where walk-ups will be accepted, but people are encouraged to register online ahead of time. Tickets are first come, first served; the city did not say how many vaccines or tickets will be available Sunday.

Music Midtown is requiring all attendees this year to be fully vaccinated or show a negative COVID-19 test result within three days of attending. Since the festival is just over two weeks away, anyone who is vaccinated this Sunday will still need to show a negative COVID test.

DeKalb County has had success with incentivized vaccine drives in recent weeks. More than 2,500 people received a vaccine at the Mall at Stonecrest last weekend, when the county offered $100 prepaid debit cards with every vaccine.
