Layer up if you’re heading out on the town for Black Friday shopping. You’ll need to bundle up over the weekend, too.

Frigid air has arrived in metro Atlanta, pushing temperatures to about five to 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Friday morning temps are in the 30s ahead of daybreak. By the afternoon, the sun should come out, helping highs reach the upper 30s.

That will be the trend for the next several days, with Saturday and Sunday bringing the first widespread freeze of the season, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Even worse, Monday and Tuesday could potentially see lows dip into the 20s. Highs will stay in the low 50s and upper 40s at least through Thursday, according to the forecast.

Some places have opened warming centers to help those in need get through the bitter cold. In DeKalb County, four centers will open every night at 8 p.m. from Thursday through Sunday. They include:

» Frontline Response International at 2585 Gresham Road

» North DeKalb Senior/Community Center at 3393 Malone Drive

» Mason Mill Recreation Center at 1340 McConnell Drive

» Exchange Recreation Center at 2771 Columbia Drive
