Apologies for the headline, and you probably could’ve guessed — but Labor Day will push back trash collection in DeKalb County by one day.

Next week, residents who normally have their garbage, recycling and yard waste picked up on Mondays will have it collected on Tuesday. Tuesdays on Wednesday. And so forth.

The North Transfer Station — where commercial-type folks can dump their solid waste (no “construction and demolition material,” “municipal sludge” or “contaminated soil,” please) — will stay open on Monday. But only from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Central Transfer Station, Seminole Road Landfill and customer call center will all be closed for the holiday.
