In an upcoming virtual community Q&A, DeKalb County police Chief Mirtha Ramos said she hopes to “humanize” the officers in her department.

At 6 p.m. Sunday, Ramos will discuss questions and concerns submitted by the community during a Facebook Live stream on the department’s Facebook page. It will be her second Q&A since becoming the county’s first permanent female police chief last November.

During the event, Ramos will host a segment called “Getting to know your DKPD: A candid and raw conversation behind the badge.”

According to a news release, Ramos wants to give her officers a platform to speak about the law enforcement experience in light of the months of protests over police brutality and racism.

“As the law enforcement profession is being scrutinized, I would like to humanize the person behind the badge so that the citizens we serve can be exposed to a different perspective of what drives the officers of DKPD,” Ramos said in the release.

Questions can be submitted during the Facebook Live stream or beforehand.
