Get ready for some of the coldest air of the season to filter into metro Atlanta behind Tuesday morning’s rain, bringing a slight chance of some snow flurries over the North Georgia mountains later this week.
Areas closer to the city won’t see any flakes, but it’ll be “the coldest weather since last spring or even late last winter,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. It’ll also be breezy.
On Tuesday, widespread rain will keep highs in the mid 60s, a return to more seasonable conditions after several days of above-average temperatures.

Temps are expected to climb back into the upper 60s on Wednesday, but by Thursday, we can expect highs to stay in the 50s and low temps to dip into the 30s across the metro area, Monahan said.
Some locations in the North Georgia mountains already saw 30-degree temps in mid-October when the area had its first frost advisory.
This time, there is a possibility to see “a few rogue flurries” in higher elevations, with the best chance being in the northeast corner of the state, the National Weather Service predicts.
The cold blast will be short-lived, though. Temps will slowly climb back up to an enjoyable mid to upper 60s by the end of the weekend, according to the NWS.
