2 more days of 80-degree highs before 90s return

We’re keeping the dry, cooler-than-average weather trend in metro Atlanta on Friday, but don’t get too comfortable because 90-degree highs are on the horizon.

With temperatures in the 60s, it feels a bit like fall again Friday morning. Later this afternoon, temps will top out around 86 degrees in the city. That is a few degrees lower than the average 89-degree high for this time of year.

“Beautiful day, whether you’re just getting out to enjoy the sunshine and the comfortable conditions or if you happen to have to work outdoors,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said. “It will be nice and bright, so ... you might need the sunglasses.”

We’ll have similar conditions on Saturday. Expect a crisp morning to kick off the weekend with afternoon temps climbing into the upper 80s.

Sunday will mark the return of 90-degree highs. By Wednesday, we can expect a high of 95 degrees.

Humidity levels should stay low, though, so it will be more of a dry heat. However, rain returns to the forecast on Thursday with the possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm.
