Within hours of confirmation that an East Point police officer was a homicide victim, a suspect in her slaying was arrested.

U.S. marshals and Fulton County police arrested Danielle Parker Tuesday evening in the death of Officer Crystal Adele Parker, according to Jim Joyner of the U.S. Marshals Service. The relationship between the two women was not immediately known.

Earlier Tuesday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office had confirmed that Crystal Parker was the victim of a homicide. Parker, 34, died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to Investigator Betty Honey of the ME’s office.

Crystal Parker, a police corporal, was found dead inside her south Fulton County home Sunday night, police said. A six-year employee of the East Point Police Department, she was voted the city’s 2012 Officer of the Year.

Crystal Parker’s Creel Road home was burglarized June 16 and cash, jewelry and an Xbox Connect game were taken, Fulton police Cpl. Kay Lester said. No arrests have been in made in the burglary case.
