Midtown Atlanta shooting: One dead, multiple people injured; suspect captured

Five people were shot Wednesday, May 3, in the Northside Hospital Midtown medical office building. One was killed. Atlanta police identified Deion Patterson, 24, as the suspect. He was captured in Cobb County after an hours' long manhunt.

All five people shot Wednesday at a medical facility in Midtown were women, according to Atlanta police Chief Darin Schierbaum. “We have a multijurisdictional effort underway to bring this individual to justice and ensure that we remove him from the street,” Schierbaum said. “Everyone should consider him still armed and presenting a danger to whatever community he may find himself in.” (Arvin Temkar / arvin.temkar@ajc.com)

The Northside Hospital Midtown medical building, a 12-story facility opened by the Northside Hospital health system in 2018. At the time of the building’s opening, an announcement said that the almost 169,000-square-foot building would house doctor’s offices and services for cancer, radiology, a spine center, sleep disorders, diabetes and nutrition, maternity, sports medicine and urgent and primary care.
