Three people were shot to death overnight Tuesday in the drive-thru of a Wendy’s restaurant in Hallandale Beach, Florida, according to reports.

Gunfire erupted outside the fast-food outlet shortly before 1 a.m., CBS4 Miami reported.

An altercation may have led to the shooting, but police continue to investigate the circumstances, according to the Sun-Sentinel, citing a statement by Hallandale Beach Police Capt. Megan Jones.

Police arrived to find all three victims already dead in the parking lot, CBS4 reported.

“I just heard some gunshots pop off. It was boom, boom, boom; it was quick, though."

Authorities have not yet identified the deceased, and it was unclear whether any of them knew each other.

The restaurant, located just off Interstate 95 at 1091 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., was still open at the time of the shooting, but no employees were involved or hurt, police told CBS4.

Witnesses reported hearing at least 10 gunshots, although police have not yet confirmed the number of shots fired.

“I just heard some gunshots pop off. It was boom, boom, boom; it was quick, though,” Perk Fargo told CBS4.

Detectives were reviewing the restaurant’s surveillance footage, but so far no suspects have been named or arrested.

“If anybody with the public has any idea or can help us put the pieces of the puzzle together as to what happened, it would be greatly appreciated if they came forward,” said Jones, according to CBS4.

Another shooting Tuesday morning in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Little Rock, Arkansas, left one person dead and another one wounded, according to KARK.
