One person was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle that caused major delays on U.S. 78 for DeKalb County motorists Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The wreck was reported about 7:30 a.m. in the left eastbound lane of the highway near Brockett Road, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Just a few minutes later, all eastbound lanes shut down as authorities worked the scene. The lanes did not reopen to traffic until three hours later.

A body could be seen lying on the highway moments after the wreck. Authorities did not release the victim’s name or any details about the crash.

During the height of the delays, another crash in DeKalb County caused major issues on I-285. The northbound lanes near I-20 shut down about 9:35 a.m. after a multivehicle crash involving tractor-trailers. Around 10:35 a.m., authorities began clearing the I-285 scene.
