In honor of Blind Americans Equality Day, a three-part online series will be presented by the DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL), beginning 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 15, for people with vision loss.

Remaining sessions in the series will be 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 1 and Dec. 10.

Each webinar session will be available by Zoom videoconferencing for people with vision loss to learn about community/library resources, options for accessing reading material and ways to stay engaged in their community, according to a DCPL statement.

By joint resolution approved on Oct. 6, 1964, the U.S. Congress authorized the President to designate Oct. 15 of each year as “White Cane Safety Day,” known now as “Blind Americans Equality Day,” to honor the contributions of Americans who are blind or visually impaired, according to the National Federation of the Blind.
