Two motorcyclists were killed and two were injured Sunday afternoon in a wreck that shut down I-75 in Clayton County for hours, police said.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. just before Old Dixie Road and Tara Boulevard and closed all southbound lanes as travelers headed back home the day after Christmas. On scene, officers found two motorcyclists unresponsive and drivers provided them with CPR until EMS arrived, Clayton police spokesman Johnny Carroll said.

Both riders were taken to the hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other died from their injuries, Carroll said. A third motorcyclist was in critical condition, he added. The fourth rider sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The interstate was completely blocked for nearly four hours as officers investigated the crash and cleared debris. Two lanes remained blocked as late as 7:20 p.m.

Police did not say how the crash happened. None of the riders’ names have been released.
