Winner: Best biscuit in metro Atlanta 2020

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is committed to continuing our normal features, where appropriate, during the coronavirus outbreak. For full coverage of the outbreak in Atlanta, please check our Coronavirus News Section. We have decided to continue Best of Atlanta voting for the time being, despite social distancing. We encourage our readers to support local businesses after the authorities loosen the social distancing rules — along with supporting those businesses that offer delivery or pickup during the outbreak.

Split open a light and fluffy biscuit, and you can fill it with nearly anything — meat, poultry, jam, honey or just butter — and serve it at any meal. You can even make a meal out of it — did someone say bacon, egg and cheese biscuit for breakfast?

Biscuits are a comfort food we all enjoy. If you’re not one to make them yourself, we asked, where do you go? The winner was an overwhelming choice, but we’ll start with No. 5 and work our way to the top.

The 2020 winner of best biscuit in metro Atlanta was Mamie's Kitchen Biscuits. Mamie's history dates back to 1966, when Jack Howard Sr. and his wife, Gloria, opened the doors to the first Mamie's Kitchen Restaurant in Atlanta on Memorial Drive. Although it finished in third place last year, Mamie's got half the votes this year to take the title.
