Only about 10% of school-aged kids in the United States attend private schools, but that still accounts for about 5 million students, according to Niche.
And while private schools boast perks like smaller class sizes and consistently higher standardized test scores, they aren’t always better across the board, according to Niche, which rates all things education-related.
A recent analysis of Niche's data by 24/7 Wall Street ranked the best private school in each state. The schools were ranked on categories such as average test scores, rank of the colleges that graduates attended, culture and diversity and student-teacher ratio.
So how did Georgia size up? The data found one Atlanta private school that stands a part from the rest. The Westminster Schools on Atlanta’s West Paces Ferry Road has students from grades K-12 and has a student-teacher ratio of 6 to 1, according to Niche, which ranked it the best in the state.
The Westminster Schools
Students: 1,870
Average SAT score: 1420
Annual tuition: $30,330
Westminster also says that 100% of its graduates go on to a 4-year college. However, it's of course not the only option for private schools in Georgia. However, the top five slots all went to schools in metro Atlanta. Westminster’s neighbor down the street, Pace Academy, came in at No. 2 on the list, receiving a very similar report card.
The top five private high schools in the state were ranked:
The Westminster Schools
Pace Academy
The Paideia School
Atlanta International School
Woodward Academy
