“A Christmas Carol” 

Actor Palmer Williams stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in the holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol,” which runs through Dec. 24 at Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square.

Williams is well-known for his comedic role in Tyler Perry’s television show, “House of Payne.”

“I think people will be intrigued by what I’m bringing to this role,” said Williams. “I’m excited to be in front of a theater audience and take on the new character during a time of year when so many come together to share experiences and enjoy one another. I am also excited about playing a serious role, I am reintroducing myself to world. Although, I love comedy I am looking forward to taking a step back into a new adventure.”

Williams is also known for his role in Tyler Perry’s “Love Thy Neighbor” and his appearance on “Family Feud.” In the play, Williams’s old, miserly character is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, in addition to the ghosts of Christmas “past,” “present” and “yet to come.”

North Mississippi Allstars

The North Mississippi Allstars will play the Variety Playhouse on Dec. 21.

The band was founded in 1996 by brothers Luther, who plays guitar and vocals, and Cody Dickinson, on drums, piano, synth bass, programming and vocals.

They are on tour promoting their latest project, “Prayer for Peace,” which was recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis. The band offers listeners a toe-tapping take on hill-country blues music.

Yoga for all

Osatyam partners with Charis Books and More for a yoga class for all levels.

Participants are guided through a series of yoga poses that promote wellness within the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga At Charis keeps a strong focus on breathing and increasing full body awareness and connection to spirit.

The instructor adjusts each practice based on the comfort level of the group and encourages each practitioner to move within their abilities.

Yoga At Charis is a donation-based class with a suggested sliding scale donation of $5-20.
