Actor Palmer Williams stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in the holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol,” which runs through Dec. 24 at Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square.

Williams is well-known for his comedic role in Tyler Perry’s television show, “House of Payne.”

“I think people will be intrigued by what I’m bringing to this role,” said Williams. “I’m excited to be in front of a theater audience and take on the new character during a time of year when so many come together to share experiences and enjoy one another. I am also excited about playing a serious role, I am reintroducing myself to world. Although, I love comedy I am looking forward to taking a step back into a new adventure.”

Williams is also known for his role in Tyler Perry’s “Love Thy Neighbor” and his appearance on “Family Feud.” In the play, Williams’s old, miserly character is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, in addition to the ghosts of Christmas “past,” “present” and “yet to come.”
