If you’re looking for a unique way to spend some quality time with your family, a nighttime hiking session may be in order.

The Chattahoochee Nature Center invites families to spend their Saturday night becoming one with nature alongside their loved ones.

“Winter is one of the best times of year to explore nature at night and the winter world of CNC is one that deserves exploration in the dark,” the Family Night Hike and Campfire description said. “Listen for the sounds of winter in the woods and gaze up at the stars while enjoying the crisp air of the season. A campfire, where you can roast a marshmallow, will be waiting for you as the evening is wrapped up.”

All ages are welcome at the Feb. 8 event and tickets are $10 for CNC members. The general public can buy tickets for $12, but those who register by Feb. 6 can knock $2 off the price.

The CNC is a 127-acre nature center along the Chattahoochee River. It is a non-profit organization with the mission to connect people with nature. Touted as metro Atlanta’s nature destination, trails, exhibits, programs and events are held on the property, which is filled with forest, wetlands and a river habitat.

Special events include the annual Harvest on the Hooch food and beer festival and Sundays on the River Concert Series. Family Fun Days are held throughout the year, with upcoming happenings including Flying Into The Future, where science and nature collide.
