The “Find My Friends” app is a location sharing tool. It allows people to locate friends and family using their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The app uses a device’s GPS capabilities to “find” other friends using the app.
According to police, the “Find My Friends” App helped locate the body of a missing woman found early Wednesday near an Atlanta charter school.
So how does the Find My Friends app work?
If it's not already on your device, install the map-based app and share your location with your friends by choosing from your contacts, entering their email addresses or phone numbers, or using AirDrop, according to Apple support.
When you share your location, your friends can start following your location and share their locations back to you so that you’re both in the loop. If at any time you don’t want to be followed, you can hide your location with a single switch.
How do you track a family members iPhone?
You can get started by following these directions on each iPhone and iPad:
- Launch Settings from your Home screen.
- Tap your Apple ID banner at the top.
- Tap iCloud.
- Tap on Find My iPhone.
- Tap the switch next to Find My iPhone to turn it on (green is on) For more on Find My Friends, go to Apple Support Find My Friends
