Sandy Springs couple throws neighborhood Halloween bash

Debra & Buz Psathas work together as they decorate their Sandy Springs home for the huge community Halloween party they throw each year.

Buz Psathas (left, obscured) & his brother in-law, Darrell Davis work to secure an inflatable spider on top ot a shed. Psathas estimates his party used to cost him more than $1,000 to put on.

Now, some of Psathas' neighbors are starting to pitch in. Dee Roeske carries a mummy out of Psathas' garage for decorating.

"They think of such clever things to write on the tombstones," said Sherry Pringham, a regular at the party. "Each year I can't wait to see what they've done new."

Some family members come from out of town to work with the Psathases for a week or more setting up hundreds of decorations & elaborate scary scenes like this "Vampire to do list."

For the past 15 years, skeletons have crawled out of graves and oversized spiders and other ghoulish sights take over the Psathas' property at the corner of Timberlane Terrace and Pine Brook Drive.

A few of the wild Jack-o-lanterns that will be scattered throughout the yard.

And yes, the fake head in a portable toilet is a prop.

"What this has become is a real community event," said City Councilman Tibby DeJulio, who represents the area where Psathas, seen here deocrating, lives. "I've been going for some time, and I look forward to it each year."

Styrofoam tombstones that bear the names of friends and family are a highlight of the event but so is the skeleton in a cript.

Neighbor Darrell Davis hangs flying ghosts in Psathas' yard. This year, a neighbor, and regular attendee who has a catering service, has offered to supply the food.

A dancing skeleton awaits final work in Buz Psathas' garage workshop. He'll be outside by Halloween however and ready to greet visitors!
