Of course there's a catch. Per KMGH in Cleveland, the deep discounts in shipping don't translate into great deals on everything else: "This is not Black Friday, and says you should not assume you are finding a great deal." And those discounts can still come with minimum purchase requirements.
What's more, some retailers (such as Target and Walmart) already offer free shipping throughout the year.
Still, Free Shipping Day has reportedly grown enormous, topping $1 billion in sales, according to WTOP in Washington, D.C.: "In fact, one survey found 90 percent of consumers spend more when they're offered free delivery."
