Each year, National Nurses Week kicks off on May 6 and runs through May 12. The tradition was set in stone in 1993 when the American Nurses Association Board of Directors signed off on the permanent dates for this annual event. For the ANA, Nurses Week is a way to "celebrate and elevate the nursing profession." Today, National Nurses Week has evolved into a chance for everyone to come together and recognize the role nurses play in society.
