Former Braves pitcher Tom Glavine gets to meet his "No. 1" fan in Decatur in June.

Charles Robinson will be front and center when the Hall of Famer signs copies of his book “Inside Pitch: Playing and Broadcasting the Game I Love” at 7 p.m. June 2 at Eagle Eye Book Shop, 2076 North Decatur Rd..

It won’t be hard. He’s the co-owner.

"He's my personal favorite baseball player," said Robinson, who grew up in Atlanta. "When they were just bottom-of-your-shoe bad, I was there. In the tough times and the good times…I'm fit to be tied over here."

There are ground rules.

To be admitted, customers must buy a copy of the book from Eagle Eye Book Shop, along with a $10 donation to CURE Childhood Cancer. They will then be given a numbered signing line ticket.

On the day of the event, customers will be given a wrist band. One other person may be admitted for an additional $10 donation to CURE.

There are no posed pictures. He will also not sign other memorabilia.

When Robinson got wind that that Glavine had a book coming out, he said he kept contacting the publisher. "Finally, I guess I annoyed them so much, they said 'OK, we're going to make this happen'."

Even before his Decatur appearance, Glavine will also be at the Barnes & Noble Edgewood bookstore, 1217 Caroline St. at 7 p.m. June 1. The store will issue wristbands to customers on a first-come, first-served basis for this event beginning at 9 a.m.
