History: In 2015, Jim Kennedy and Bill Bolling's vision to build healthy communities through a collaborative network of local food leaders was born. Community gardens and urban farms are gaining support and sprouting up around metro Atlanta because of Food Well Alliance and its network of partners and growers.

Did You Know: To maximize opportunities during COVID-19, Food Well Alliance is focusing on providing land prep, compost, and other support to urban farms and community gardens. Starter kits for home gardens are offered in partnership with Wholesome Wave Georgia, and the Alliance is reviving school gardens in partnership with Captain Planet Foundation. Recently, 50 families in East Point received three bucket gardens, as part of the Alliance's Bucket Brigade program.

Motto: Locally grown food builds healthier communities, and thriving gardens and farms strengthen the heart of cities.

How You Can Help: Follow @foodwellalliance to hear from engaging farmers and gardeners. Consider growing a home garden, joining a community garden or buying from local farmers markets. Donate extra veggies from your garden and participate in Plant a Row for the Hungry at gardencomm.org/PAR.
