A restaurant at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport might not seem the most likely spot to build award-worthy buzz — but with its top-shelf drinks and service, not to mention tabletops of Cherokee Marble, One Flew South has become its own destination; and the self-proclaimed "first upscale dining experience" at the airport.

That attention to satisfaction was recognized with a nomination as a semifinalist for the 2015 James Beard Award for Outstanding Service, the only Atlanta restaurant nominated. Diners say the food is worth a bite, but that the spirits are where One Flew South soars.

It's a standout despite, or perhaps because of, its location. As AJC chief dining critic John Kessler once wrote, "For me, the only pleasures our airport currently offers (with the exception of One Flew South) are guilty ones."
