The permanent rainbow crosswalks, recently installed at 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue in Midtown, cost $196,000 to install.
The city released the cost of the project earlier this week .
The life expectancy of the crosswalk is 10 years.
“Our contractor will make any necessary repairs, including normal wear and tear updates, as part of the warranty for the first year at no charge,” the city said in a statement.
The funds for the rainbow crosswalks came from the city’s transportation budget.
“The annual transportation budget is approximately $44 million, and the cost of installing the rainbow crosswalks is approximately three-tenths of one percent of the transportation budget,” the statement said.

Last month, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed used the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando to show solidarity with the LGBTQ community.
“On June 12, 2016, amidst the celebration of Pride Month, 49 individuals lost their lives in an unspeakable tragedy in Orlando, Florida,” Reed said in a release. “Today, on the anniversary of this horrific event, we remember those whose lives were lost and those that were forever changed. Our thoughts and prayers were with you then, and they remain with you today.”
The Midtown intersection is known as a hub for the LGBTQ community and advocates said it was important to recognize the contributions to the broader community.
