History: The Atlanta Beltline Partnership was created in 2005 to provide support for the Atlanta Beltline through fund-raising and community engagement. The 22-mile loop of trails, parks, affordable housing, transportation and art got its genesis from a thesis paper written by Georgia Tech graduate student Ryan Gravel in 1999. It has since become one of the most extensive redevelopment programs in the country. The Partnership has raised more than $54 million to support the multi-phased, multi-billion dollar project, which is scheduled for completion in 2030.
Did you know: Atlanta Beltline visitors can enjoy a variety of restaurants and shops along the five trails that connect 45 neighborhoods and seven parks. The Partnership hosts bus, bike and walking tours, an annual 10K race, free fitness classes and opportunities for volunteering.
Its motto: To build and sustain great working relationships with individuals, community partners, and organizations in "targeted, strategic and coordinated ways" in order for the Atlanta Beltline to fulfill its vision of a more connected Atlanta.
How you can help: The Atlanta Beltline Partnership is looking for volunteers who want to promote the Beltline and all that it has to offer. Volunteers who are comfortable speaking in front of groups are needed to conduct presentations for local businesses. For those who like to get their hands dirty, group volunteers can adopt a section of the Atlanta Beltline, which helps maintain its beauty and greenspace. Making a financial contribution is another great way to "lend a hand."
