Amid the coronavirus outbreak, many people have taken to gardening projects — growing their own food at home as a way to rid off stress or gain a new skill.
It’s also drawn people to volunteer at or visit community gardens and farms in their area, which can be done from a safe social distance.
That trend inspired the publication, Food & Wine, to rank the best farm in every state.
“While things are often going to be slightly out of the ordinary, 2020 being 2020, there are many farms where things have already fallen into the rhythm of the new normal,” the publication notes.
Here in Georgia, the list gave a nod to Serenbe Farms.
“The planned community of Serenbe, one of those Truman Show-style communities that the South has become increasingly fond of, over the years. The certified organic Serenbe Farms is all real, however, and they also run a Saturday farmers’ market,” the Food & Wine article notes.
On Instagram, Serenbe posted its gratitude for the shout out and also lifted up the West Georgia Farmers Cooperative and Dickey Farms, which also earned recognition in the list.
“Awesome news! We are honored and ecstatic to be a featured on Food & Wine magazine’s The Best Farm in Every State! Come visit our farm in person! Thanks @foodandwine for recognizing all our hard work and congratulations to @westgeorgiafarmerscoop and @dickeyfarmsinc who also made the list,” the farm wrote on Instagram.
Located about 30 miles south of Atlanta, Serenbe is a 25-acre professionally managed organic farm.
Public tours happen at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and visitors can also book private tours during the week. More information can be found on the farm’s website.
