This fall, the Atlanta area will finally have a chance to see what Texas-based chain Whataburger is all about.
The company announced on Thursday that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on April 6 at 11 a.m. to celebrate its first Atlanta-area location in Kennesaw at 705 Town Park Lane NW. The chain has already announced a second loaction to follow soon at 9766 GA-92 in Woodstock. Along with those two locations opening in the fall, the burger chain also announced it will open six additional locations by the end of 2023.
“The Atlanta area is a great location for Whataburger, and we couldn’t be more pleased to make our entry into the community with our Kennesaw restaurant expected to open this fall,” market leader Jon Barideaux said in a press release. “We’ve had the good fortune of meeting quite a few of our new neighbors already, and we’ve already felt every bit of their hospitality.”
In 2023, Whataburger plans to open restaurants in Cumming, Buford, Athens, Commerce and Dawsonville.
While these are the first locations in the Atlanta area, they are not the first in the state. Whataburger currently has one Georgia location in Thomasville, close to the Florida state line.
