A UPS delivery driver left more than just a package at a Roswell home, and now people from all over are returning the kindness.
Last week, Jessica Kitchel was expecting a few packages, but when she checked her Nest door camera, she discovered her driver had delivered much more, WRBL reported.
In the Nest video, the delivery driver is seen walking to Kitchel’s door with a package. With the package dropped off, the driver turned to the camera and said, “If this is the ‘it’s a boy’ house, I hope all is going well with your newborn. I had a child at around the same time you guys did, and I just hope everything is going good. God bless. Happy Holidays.”
Kitchel then shared the act of kindness to social media in hopes of finding the driver.
“It is really easy to focus on what isn’t going right, right now, with staffing storages but it was good to be reminded that there are still great people working hard every day for us! I really wish I knew his name but I hope he comes back and if he does there will be diapers waiting for him!” Kitchel wrote in an Instagram post.
A few days later, thanks to the power of social media, Kitchel was introduced to Dallan Harrell, a then-seasonal driver for UPS, WRBL reported.
“For me, it was about bringing in a new life, it’s also a new experience and now you’re solely dependent for another individual, so with me being in the realm, I’m a parent now, I just wanted to check on them,” Harrell told the news outlet.
After Harrell’s act of kindness spread online, people from all over joined in to purchase items off the registry for his newborn as a way of saying thanks, according to WRBL.
“I had no idea the magnitude of the people wanting to help,” Kitchel told the news outlet. “Yes, he has a newborn, there’s so many things you need with a newborn, and so to just see how incredible the community has been, and his registry has exploded, and I just can’t wait to see what his doorstep looks like next week.”
According to WRBL, Harrell’s registry is now nearly 90% sold out. And the good news doesn’t stop there: Harrell says that UPS has offered him a full-time job with his own route once the holidays are over.
“You never know what people are experiencing no matter how good it looks from the outside,” Harrell told the news outlet. “People don’t hear these messages as often as they should or get the hugs, or kisses that they should, especially around this time, people are missing loved ones, my message is to just pay it forward.”
