You know how a celebrity will mention a product and then get tons of said product for free? Apparently, that works on Taylor Swift, too.

Britta Thomason, a Dublin flight nurse, was interviewed recently by the Macon Telegraph. When the newspaper asked what she does in her free time, the Peach County native replied: “I like the simple stuff. I love Taylor Swift. I am a Swiftie. I won’t deny it.”

A couple of week’s later, Thomason got a call from someone on Swift’s team who said a package would soon arrive from the music star. In the box were T-shirts, guitar picks and a lot of other swag from the singer-songwriter. There was also a handwritten note.

“Dear Britta,” it began, “I wanted to write to you and personally thank you for serving on the front lines of this pandemic and for being brave enough to put yourself in danger to help others. I am so inspired by your passion for helping and caring for your patients and I was so touched that you mentioned liking my music recently! I’ve sent you some cozy clothes for when you’re off duty. I’ll be thinking about you, and forever grateful. Love, Taylor.”

Y’all. Y’ALL!! I mentioned in a recent news article with The Telegraph & macon.com that I am a big Taylor Swift...

“I just picture her sitting in an apartment with her cats Olivia and Meredith running around and she is just doodling my name,” Thomason told the Telegraph. “She sent me a blanket. It is so warm and cozy. And it reminds me of her song ‘You all over me.’ The whole experience has been awesome.”

The experience has also been crazy, she posted on Facebook.

“Ok, whew. Y’all are about to have to start contacting my agent,” she wrote. “But for real, this has been the craziest day!! I’ve done interviews with Atlanta radio stations, The Telegraph, 13WMAZ, and Reuters IN LONDON I’ve also been contacted by Access Hollywood, E! News, CNN, and Good Morning Britain. Taylor’s taking me on a wild ride!”

“I don’t even know what to say about all this attention,” Thomason wrote in a Facebook message this morning. “This is a wild ride Taylor’s taking me on! I just hope all my fellow nurses and EMS providers that have been fighting through this pandemic are as touched as I am by her gratitude.”

Thomason has served on the pandemic’s front lines as both a flight nurse and as part of the Nurse Navigation Line for Global Medical Response crews deployed to New York and New Jersey at the beginning of the pandemic, the Telegraph reported.

She leads the Air Evac Lifeteam base in Dublin and was named her company’s flight nurse of the year in 2019.
