The youngest daughter of former President Barack Obama has graduated from college. The former president attended the commencement ceremony on Friday, alongside former First Lady Michelle Obama and daughter Malia.

Sasha Obama transferred from the University of Michigan to USC her senior year, and now holds a degree in sociology.

“Sasha is, as Malia describes it, completely confident about her own take on the world and is not cowed or intimidated — and never has been — by anybody’s titles, anybody’s credentials. If she thinks something’s wrong or right, she will say so,” Barack Obama told InStyle in 2020.

The daughters are “best friends” and roommates Michelle Obama told TODAY while doing press for her latest book, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.”

“That’s a lovely thing — to be able to watch my girls fly and have the relief that, ‘OK, I think I didn’t mess them up,’” she explained on The Light Podcast.

Shortly after leaving office in 2017, the former president told CNBC that he and Michelle always tried to impart lessons about responsibility and leadership, no matter the girls’ ages.

“When they were small, their responsibilities were small, like, ‘say when you want to go potty,’” Obama explained. “As you get older, your responsibilities grow. Part of what we try to communicate is that being responsible is an enormous privilege.”
