What’s filming in Georgia in December 2021?

Productions tend to drop off in December in time for the holidays, but Georgia is still plenty busy with at least 52 active TV shows and films going strong as of Dec. 8. This compares to 38 last December and 32 in December 2019.

The film “Till” featuring Whoopi Goldberg and HBO Max’s “The Staircase” starring Colin Firth wrapped over the past month while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is back in town to shoot the second season of NBC’s “Young Rock” at Atlanta Metro Studios in Union City.

“Guardians of the Galaxy 3″ is in its second month of production under the pseudonym “Hot Christmas.” And there is still no sign of Bravo’s ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

“America’s Got Talent: Extreme,” which is still on the list, was supposed to finish season one in October but suspended production that month after a stunt man injured himself. NBC has not said when the production company will come back to finish the season. The show was originally scheduled to air in 2022.

The Georgia film office provides a live, ever-changing list of active productions, but it is not necessarily complete because production companies voluntarily inform the Georgia film office of what is happening. They are not obligated to do so. And if a company requests the production stay off the list, the film office will oblige.

What started between Nov. 16 and Dec. 8

“First Wives Club,” BET+ season three

“Resisting Roots” indie film: Yoga instructor Genevieve Harper is a blond bombshell loaded down with responsibility and sacrifice. She makes the most out of raising her two siblings in the wake of their parents’ tragic accident. At 24, she doesn’t have time to devote to a man…especially not the devastatingly handsome Trent Fox, who’s known for being a “player” on and off the baseball field. Can love grow between a woman who’s rooted in her life and a man who resists any notion of staying in one place?

“Young Rock,” NBC, season two
