The housing market is red hot in Georgia this year — prices are high, affordability is low and homes are being sold at a swift pace. Some local markets, however, are hotter than others.

Atlanta’s median home price rocketed to over $400,000 for the first time in April, according to the Atlanta Realtors Association. The median price rose again in May, topping $430,000. Across the capital, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta said that homes are officially unaffordable.

All the same, the Georgia Association of Realtors reported that the total days Georgia homes spend on the market decreased 22% year-over-year as of June. Now The Georgia Sun has released a report of the hottest real estate markets in the state.

Using data from the Atlanta Realtors Association, WalletHub, the Georgia Association of Realtors and Aceable, an online real estate school, the Georgia Sun deduced that their are seven cities with “red-hot” markets in Georgia right now.

With a whopping 80% increase in sales prices over the past 12 years, Norcross took home the top spot. Due to its proximity to the state capital, hopeful homeowners have been flocking to the city in droves — causing inventory to go down and home prices to go way up.
