In an interview with Variety, Offset talked about his new album, which includes a song from the late rapper and Migos bandmate Takeoff.

“This is me going full-fledged into my solo career,” Offset told the outlet. “The objective is to do it fully and smash s*** and f*** the game up as a solo artist. I’m coming through, bustin’ through the door. It’s all set; my next chapter. It’s my time.”

When the interviewer turned the discussion towards Takeoff — who was killed in a Houston shooting in November 2022 — Offset had to cut the interview short.

“Talking about all this sh*t is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That sh*t hurts. Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood,” he said before ending the interview.

Offset’s new album features three female artists, wife Cardi B., Chole Bailey and Latto. While there’s no track list yet, he did share a snippet of one song on Instagram.

Offset credits his mother and the other women in his life for getting him to where he is today, noting that his father wasn’t present.

“A female can take you somewhere you might can’t take yourself. You always need that guidance, like from that mother or that grandmother. That’s the key to my push and my drive. Strong women are going to put you in strong places.”

While the album doesn’t have a release date yet, label Capitol Records is clearly excited to release it.

“Offset has made a phenomenal album; we can’t wait until the world hears his masterpiece,” a Capitol spokesperson told Variety. “We’re deep into release planning now and will soon have big news to share!”
