Pop icon Madonna says she’s recovering after an infection and gave fans an update on her “Celebration” tour, which was postponed in the wake of her health scare.

“Thank you for your positive energy, prayers, and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love,” Madonna wrote. “I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life. My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children.

Her manager, Guy Oseary, first broke the health news on his Instagram page on June 28. “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU,” he wrote. “At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.”

Page Six reported the singer was felt sick after pushing herself too hard, revealing she was working 12-hour days in an “attempt to keep up with her dancers.” A close friend described the icon as “a perfectionist.”

Madonna’s last tour was “Madame X” in 2019-2020. Her current tour sold out more than 600,000 tickets in New York, London and Paris within minutes, making it her most successful tour to date, according to Billboard, bringing in over $100 million dollars.

The “Celebration” tour was set to kick off July 15 in Vancouver and run through October 8 in Las Vegas. The tour will now being on October 14 at London’s O2 Arena.

“My focus now is on my health and getting stronger, and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can,” Madonna told fans.
